What is Doolin Inn and Doolin Hostel?
Doolin Inn is the main building with Superior rooms more like a B&B / Budget Hotel with a Cafe and Reception downstairs.
Doolin Hostel is opposite and has dormitory and private rooms with Bunk Beds. Downstairs you have a full self catering kitchen, dining and living room.
Technically we are a registered and approved”holiday hostel” (and where the first to be approved in Ireland) which is an approved accommodation category recognized by Failte Ireland (Irish Tourism Board). We are more boutique in what we offer and have a coffee shop on site serving light snacks, pizza, bagels and Irish Craft Beer as well as great coffee. Plus our bedrooms and public area are more similar to what you would find in a budget hotel or B&B.
What is the WIFI (WLAN) code? thebestpizza using routers Doolinhostel 1 /2 / ext and it is free. Please note we have only 6mb so it is great for sending emails and booking tickets or checking your facebook status. But it is not for downloading or watching videos and the service gets very slow if we exceed our 6mb.
I can’t get on the WIFI? Either there are too many people on the WIFI or someone is trying to download a big file and the service provider has penalized us with their fair usage policy. We suggest leave it a little while and try again, or restart your device as this may help also.
Where can I find the best rate to stay? Our best rate and terms and conditions are directly on our website. As we don’t have to pay the high commission for bookings through online booking .com agencies. Help us keep the costs down by booking directs
Can we bring our Pet, Do you accept Dogs? Unfortunately we do do not pet facilities or pet friendly rooms. We will accommodate Guide Dogs.
Do you have a computer and printer? Yes there is a complimentary computer for guest use in the living room and to print pages it 30cents a page.
What time is check in and check out? Check in is from 3pm – 8.30pm and check out is 1 0.30am. If you require a late check out up to 12.30pm you can request this for €5.00 per person at check in time.
Is there a curfew or do I have to leave the hostel during the day time? No. You can stay out as long as you like, your room key will let you in. You do not have to leave the hostel during the day time like some older traditional hostels.
Do you allow parties in the Inn or hostel? No. We live on site with our family and we are a family orientated hostel with many of our guests getting up early to go exploring all that Doolin has to offer. There are however 4 great pubs all within walking distance to enjoy. We just ask for the night owls to be quite on their return as we are located in the in the middle of the countryside which lacks street noise.
Do you have luggage storage? We provide luggage storage for guests arriving early and for those departing later that day. We do not have long term luggage storage.
Are there lockers in my room? In our dormitory rooms we have under bed storage lockers, but you need to bring your own lock. All bedrooms and the front door have special multi lock keys for added security.
Are linen and towels included? Linen is included, towels are included in private rooms and available to rent for €1.00 in dormitory rooms. Toiletries such as soap and shower gel are available in all bathrooms.
Is Breakfast included? We include a continental breakfast buffet of cereals, natural yoghurt, seeds, fresh, poached and dried fruit plus seeds. Orange Juice, Apple Juice, Cranberry Juice, Freshly brewed tea, coffee, Irish Soda Bread, Toast and preserves. We do not provide a cooked breakfast, meats and cheese as part of our free breakfast. For dietary requirements we have Soya Milk and gluten free cereals available upon request.
If you wish you can add to this from our coffee shop a breakfast bagel, Belgium Waffles, Filled Croissants, Speciality Coffees from our Coffee Shop onsite.
Do you accept credit cards? We accept Visa and Mastercard Credit and Debit cards, please note there is a 3% processing fee for credit cards. We also accept cash and also note there is no bank or ATM in Doolin
Where is the nearest ATM and shop in Doolin? The nearest ATM is Lahinch and Ennistymon (10Km away) plus an ATM at the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Center but this is a private one and often out of cash. The nearest shop is 2 km away and is also a petrol station the nearest supermarket and pharmacies are Lisdoonvarna and Ennistymon.
Does our room have a private bathroom? All private rooms have a private bathroom, all dormitories have a designated bathroom with shower and toilet directly outside each room
Are there hair dryers and electrical adapters? Hair dryers are available at reception, plus we have a couple of electrical adapters (but not transformers for 110v). We also have USB ports in our Kitchen wall sockets and our 4 bed private standards have a European plug at each bunk.
Do I need a card or to be part of an organization to stay? No all ages are welcome and you do not need to be part of any organization. Our main guests are individuals couples.
Do you take groups? We have separate group facilities and cater for colleges, schools, activity clubs etc. We do not accept Stag, Hen, Celebration parties and do not allow alcohol to be brought on property by groups. Addition terms and conditions apply for groups of 8+
Can I do Laundry? We do not provide laundry service, but next door there is a drop off laundry service with a 4-6 hour turn around time. We do have a drying room and a clothes line for drying clothes.
In an emergency who do I contact? Please phone us at ++353 (0)972820587 or ++353 (0)65 7074421 or ring the bell at the reception door. In the event of a fire our assembly point is at the bus stop opposite the hostel.
Do you have a Fire Alarm? Yes as we are a registered and approved Hostel we have a full fire alarm system as well as CO2 alarms in our boiler room and we are inspected regularly by Health Inspector, Fire Chief, Failte Ireland (Irish Tourist Board) to be a fully compliant professional accommodation provider.
Is there a Doctor in Doolin? The nearest Doctors (GP’s) are in Lahinch, Ennistymon and Lisdoonvarna and for after hours it is ShannonDoc tel 1850 212999
How to get to Doolin? You can get the Bus Eireann bus directly to our doorstep from Dublin, Cork, Galway, Ennis, Shannon Airport etc. The main route it the Galway – Doolin – Ennis 350 bus
Do I need a car to explore Doolin? No but it does give you more freedom. But you can rent a bike or an electric bike. The Doolin Bus Eireann bus stop is our door step and you can get it up and down to the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Center or Doolin Cave in the other direction. The Doolin ferries to the Aran Islands is a 15 minute walk, we are the trail head for the Cliffs of Moher Coastal Walk. O’Connors Pub is a 2 minute walk for the best live Traditional Irish Music. All the activity providers will pick you up from the hostel to Rock Climbing, Horse Riding, Sea Kayaking, Mountain Biking, Caving etc. And if you would like to explore the Burren it starts in Doolin and we can send you on a load of exciting trails and our favorite hikes.
When is there live Irish Music in Doolin? Doolin has live music 365 days of the year and some amazing festivals through out the year. Check out our calendar of events for more up to date information. Doolin is very lucky to be a small coastal village with a love for life and you will always find something going, our favourite nights for music is O’Connors on a Sunday Night, Fitz’s on a Monday, McGanns on a Tuesday and McDermots on a Thursday. The weekends are great too, but the weekdays are special.
What is your cancellation policy? Our cancellation policy is 48 hours with no deposit required when you book directly on our website. On booking.com it is 7 days and 25% non refundable or 100% non refundable deposit on other sites it is 48 hours with 12% or full prepayment. Our best prices are only on our website. For Groups different cancellation policies will apply.
I need to cancel or modify my room etc? All changes / cancellations must be via email at email@example.com when booking directly with us and via the online travel agency such as booking.com / hostelworld / hostelbookers / Air BnB etc.
I can’t find the room I want? All our availability is shown on our website, more than any other booking website, especially double rooms. If the room you are looking for is not there, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will do our best to help you or maybe recommend some one locally who can help.
